Soccer League Serving Opportunities

King of Glory is excited to announce a new serving opportunity involving our partnership with Terry Redlin Elementary School. A youth soccer league is being formed for all 2nd-5th grade students who either attend Terry Redlin or live in the nearby neighborhood.

King of Glory, along with Celebrate Church, will be partnering together to support this league that will be held on Saturday mornings from April 23 until June 11 (excluding May 28, which is Memorial Day weekend) at Meldrum Park, located at 6th St. and Lewis Ave.

We are so excited and feel so blessed to be able to take part in what God is doing and is going to do through this program. We are especially excited to provide an opportunity for these students and their families to participate in organized sports, providing a setting for community connection to take place between us as a church and these families, but also between the families themselves.

There have been some amazing community organizations that have stepped up in a big way to aid this effort. Dakota Alliance Soccer Club will be providing all the coaches for the various sites that will host the league, while Scheels has agreed to provide nets, cones, t-shirts, shin guards and soccer balls. In addition, the City of Sioux Falls has given us the space and time needed at the different parks throughout the city.

Here’s how you can serve. Hy-Vee will provide food for a meal each week for the participants and 4-5 volunteers are needed from 10-11:30 am to serve the food and clean up following the meal. This consists of packing up food related items (food can be packed up in provided bags and given away to families), returning roasters and serving utensils back to the church and cleaning them before putting away. In addition, this group will also pick up soccer goals, cones and soccer balls and place them in the onsite storage shed.

Celebrate will provide 8-10 volunteers each week to handle equipment setup and registration.

God is certainly on the move, and we are now ready to invite you to join in what He is doing in our schools and neighborhoods as we partner with them as a body of believers.
