Radix Retreat - February 24-26
King of Glory’s Student Ministries is planning a fun weekend retreat for our middle school and high school students coming up in February. King of Glory is partnering with two other churches, Community Reformed Church and Prairie Hills Covenant Church, for a Radix Retreat. The retreat runs from Friday, February 24, thru Sunday, February 26, and will be held at Inspiration Hills in Inwood, Iowa.
The cost for the retreat is $55 per student, which is due by Wednesday, February 15. Scholarships are available to help reduce the cost for families. The group will be staying in dorms in the Main Lodge which allows us plenty of room for students to invite friends.
The theme for the retreat is based on Luke 10:27, which says “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and, Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Radix in Latin means root. Roots stabilize and sustain life and this is what we hope can be the case for the students, that their spiritual roots dig deep to stabilize their faith and sustain them through whatever the world may throw at them while they engage in community with other believers and strengthen bonds and make new friends.
Here is what to expect during the weekend:
Large group sessions where we explore God’s word with our theme verse – Luke 10:27.
Small group sessions where students have an opportunity to ask questions with their leaders.
“Game-themed” events where teams work together to accomplish challenges.
Outdoor activities (weather permitting). Students should plan on bringing winter gear.
Free time and games for students to be together and build relationships.
Here is a list of items to bring on the retreat:
Bible, paper, pens/pencils
Clothes for the weekend
Winter Clothes for being outside (Snow Boots, Snow Pants, Coats, Hats, Gloves/Mittens)
Sleeping Bag/Pillow
Toiletries (Shampoo, Body Wash, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant, etc.)
Bath Towel
Snacks (optional)
Students who want to be a part of this Radix Retreat are asked to complete the form below. Family Ministry Coordinator Matt Janecek will then reach out with information on how to register for the retreat. Registration closes on February 1.
